September Day Activity will be a walk on Saturday 27 Sep.
DURHAM COAST AND DENES.
An easy stroll in the area of the Durham coastal denes, including Crimdon Dene, Castle Eden Dene and the Durham Coast.
No elephants on route, only Kissing frogs.
Approx 10 miles. Bring a packed lunch. Can divert via a pub if required.
Castle Eden Dene is a national nature reserve - dogs on lead.
Bucket and spade optional.
Meet at Crimdon Dene Car Park - grid reference NZ 483869. 1030am.
Directions to start point:
From A181/A19 Junction, take B1281 east, (signed BLACKHALL). Just after War memorial turn left (signed BLACKHALL ROCKS), still B1281.
After approx 3 miles, B1281 meets Coast Road (A1086), turn right. Follow A1086 south for approx 1.5 miles, past Lido Garage.
Turn Left at signpost for Crimdon Dene (opposite entrance Caravan Park).
Follow road round, along the sea front. Park in the lower area of car park, in the area of the track junction to the farm.
Meet near the orange and white safety notice numbered EN09 and the antelope horn? sculpture.
