Day activity - August

Post by pennyswaine »

Suddenly all my weekends have gone with weekends of back packing or canoeing, so I can't offer an activity in August. I am paddling Yarm High Street on Saturday 2nd August if anyone wants to join us in this venture!!

Oops, I'm organising August's day activity and seem to be running out of days! Saturday 31st August seems the best day to go for given that people are going up to Scotland next weekend. I'm thinking about a walk from Wolsingham to Frosterley along the River Wear and back over the moors - it's about 10 miles but very pleasant, only the odd wee hill, might even be able to stop off at the Black Bull for refreshments! There's parking in the park in Wolsingham, on the main road through the village, which seems like the best place to meet up - how about a 10am start? Do let me know if you're thinking of coming, Cheers, Susan

Hi Sue

Yes, we are interested in the walk next Sunday, 10am is OK for us. We can pop Matthew in his back pack. We may not be able to manage 10 miles, but we can always make a detour and let you carry on. We will bring a map etc.

Looking forward to some wild moorland...has Healthcliffe signed up yet?

Aaarghhh, have abused my calendar, I did mean Saturday and have just realised it's the 30th, not the 31st - sorry!! Kathy, are you still able to make it that day? Would be great to catch up, but can't do Sunday morning - could make it for 12.30ish on Sunday and make it shorter if you can't make Saturday. Sorry about that. Susan

Hi Sue

No problem - we can walk Saturday instead!

We'll see you Sat - we are happy to give you a lift if it is just the four of us? We can sort this out towards the end of the week...however, hopefully there maybe others interested in the walk.

Hi Kathy, glad you can make it! A lift down would be great if you've got space - would it be easier if I drive up to your house? Haven't heard from anyone else whether they're coming - guess people may also be waiting to see what the weather does.
Cheers!! Susan

Hi,
We would like to join you for the walk this Saturday. Do we need to get maps or bring anything? We are new members of Durham Mountin Sports Group. Look forward to meeting you Sat.

Hi, be nice to have a few of us going! We're meeting in the carpark in the park in Wolsingham, which is on the A689, on the left-hand side of the road if you were to head through to Frosterley, not far past the turning off for Hamsterley (grid ref 072373), at 10am. Nadine and Duncan, I'm sure we'll have quite a few maps between us, so don't worry if you don't have one, probably best if we all bring lunch etc - would be nice to have a wee visit to the Black Bull, but guess it would be safer to aim for cake or beer rather than count on getting there at lunchtime, it is a bit of a detour, so depends on what we all think.

Cheers!!

A big thank you to Sue for organising a classic Weardale 10 mile walk (The river, ascent and walk along the Weardale Way). The views were excellent from the 'Elephant Trees', and the home baking was much appreciated!

We enjoyed our first outing with the club including the muffins and t shop. A lovely walk. How many walks close to home can you go elephant spotting!
