The Weardale Ski Club Ltd
Welcome to the spring/early summer news letter. It is the time of year where thoughts turn to summer holidays AND Weardale ski club work parties. You may not realise how much hard work is put in each year to keep those beautifully groomed slopes in pristine condition but with less people attending each year the burdon is falling on fewer + fewer shoulders so please try and make one work parties if possible. No special skills are required but those of you who possess particular expertise please let it be known. Jobs to be done this year include repairs to snow fencing, building new snow fences at the top of F2 to try and prevent snow being blown off as happened this year (thanks to Les for the wood), refelting of roofs, ditching etc. More specialised jobs include servicing the machinery - Piste basher, the tracked vehicle, the button lifts etc. We have 2 definite dates in June which are Sunday 8th June + Sunday 22nd June. For those that prefer weekdays we are proposing 2 other days on Tuesday 10th June + Tuesday 24th June. All of these days start at 10am. If you plan to attend please can you email me to give a rough idea of numbers. If you are free on other days and would like to help then give Mike a call on 01388 528350.
Membership renewals are also now due and you should be receiving the forms in the next few days through the post. If for any reason you do not receive a renewal form please email me with your address and I will post one out (or email it if you prefer). Once again we have reduced renewal rates this year to £20 for adults, £10 for intermediates + £5 for juniors but this only applies to those who renew before 30th September after which there is a £10 penalty. New members fees are £26 for adults and £10 for intermediates + £5 for juniors with a one off £10 joining fee for adults only. If you know of anyone else who would like a membership form please let me know.
What does membership get you? It gives you unlimited skiing at Englands premier ski resort (see http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Swinhope ) for the year. We try to open whenever snow conditions permit either at weekends or weekdays. In addition you get reduced skiing at Carlisle Ski Club (Yad Moss near Alston). Other fantastic benefits include 10% discount from Nevisport (20% during promotional weeks) as well as discount at other outdoor shops but only on production of a valid membership card! Stanhope Travel in Front Street in Stanhope is offering Annual ski insurance at special reduced rates for WSC members (eg european single cover £39 to worldwide family cover £69), £25 Discount off brochure prices and £100 travel voucher which they have donated and will be drawn from all membership applications received before 30th September. On top of this you will belong to a group of like-minded people who enjoy the great outdoors and have the opportunity to attend social occasions like work parties!! What more can you want for only £20?
Finally please contact me if you do not wish to receive these emails and snow reports during the winter months and I will remove you from the list.
If you know of anybody who would be interested in receiving these emails (whether a member or not) please feel free to forward this email to them or ask them to contact me by email

Re: Weardale Ski Club Ltd
Hi,
i've started skiing at the dry ski slope in sunderland , and would be interested in more skiing events.
How do I get a form to join the weardale ski club? I'd like to join asap, as I believe there is a discount.
Thanks Lucy
