May Activity Day

Post by Gordon »

Hi

Despite me trying to wriggle out of it at the pub on Tuesday night I am organising the May activity day.

I have tried to think of something to suit most people in the club, so intend to go to Langstrath in the Lakes, I know it’s a long way but it will be good I promise!

The walkers in the club can test themselves on a grade 2 scramble (Cam Crag Ridge http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/news/article/mps/uan/5204 ) and don’t worry the hardest parts can be avoided. The canoeists can still get wet if they fall off while deep water soloing, a posh way to say climbing above water. Whilst the climbers can either join in the scramble or deep water soloing or spend the day bouldering (http://www.rockfax.com/databases/result ... tml?id=379 or http://www.lakesbloc.co.uk/sei/s/1284/f86.pdf ) and all without lugging about clunky metal bits or even ropes!

In fact the idea is that anyone can do anything they fancy just all within one little valley along with the rest of the club.

Oh and as promised on Tuesday, mainly to get Linz off my back, once everyone has about finished playing I will give a quick lesson to anyone who is interested to teach them the coolest of circus skills (weather permitting). Then of course I’m sure we will refuel in the pub!!

Unfortunately because May is already quite full the only two days I can give you a choice of are 10th or 17th. If you’re interested in coming let me know which day you prefer.

Hope that sounds ok

Hi Gordon,
I'm up for the scrambling & the refuelling.
I'll have to take the van as I've hammered the miles on the car recently. This means although I only have one passenger seat I have plenty of space for gear & don't mind carrying extra if people are pushed for space.
Personally I'm not bothered which Saturday but would also be happy driving across Friday & staying until Sunday but will go with the flow.
Cheers

Hi Gordon,

Me and Lindsay will be along for this as i've heard Cam Crag Ridge is a classic,
So count us in,
There will be two spare seats for anyone wanting to share a lift and keep the costs down

Sorry to be a pain but I forgot I have to attend my own birthday party on the 17th, doh :? . So therefore can only manage the 10th.

Hi

I’m really sorry guys but I’m not going to be able to do the activity day this month. An old injury has reared its ugly head and has put me out of action for a bit.

Guess we just postpone it for a while unless someone wants to take over the reins. Sorry for the relatively late notice but I was hoping it would have got better by now!!

No worries Gordon - there's plenty of other stuff going on this month anyway, we were goin to struggle to fit it all in!

Hope your injury doesn't put you out of action for too much longer, I still want to learn that circus trick! :)

Hi guys

Mainly for Daniel and Steve who were still thinking about heading over to Langstrath this weekend here is a link to the little deep water soloing guide I found

http://www.lancs.ac.uk/~lumc/black_moss_pot_guide.pdf

If the weather stays anything like this I couldn’t think of anywhere better to climb than above on of the best swimming holes in the Lakes!!

Have fun

Thanks Gordon, were going to crag lough now so think it would be good to rearange for another date then we can all go together. Also it would be good to camp over on the saturday night and make a longer weekend of it. This may also tempt the climbers along.

Hi guys

I'm up for leaving it til later because then I will get to come and I'd camp to make a longer weekend of it and get some climbing in.

Just to warn those who like 4 star campsites the one near by is not one of them!! Last time I stayed there it didn't have any other facilities than toilets and a bin!It is however really nice and relaxed and I prefer a dip in the river rather than a shower anyway!!
