Charity Cycle Ride - Ashington to Druidge Bay and return

Post by Celeste »

There's a charity bike ride on 29th May held in memory of Michelle Turnbull starting at Woodhorn Museum in Ashington cycling to Druidge Bay and back. The route is 20 miles or there is a family fun ride of 5 miles. The route has been changed from last year where the ride started at Druidge Bay and cycled to Amble and onto Alnmouth. I'd erroniously said during pub night it was Amble.

Rides are marshalled and on the Coast and Castles cycle route, with a combination of off-road and quiet road sections. A picnic is provided by Sustrans. The cost is £7.50 which includes a T-shirt, goody bag and picnic. Last year raffle prizes were bike gear and a couple bikes.

It was suggested we might camp on Saturday near Amble or Alnmouth, the nearest options I've found are in Alnwick or Ashington. Not having stayed in the area I don't know if there are pubs nearby. If anyone fancies camping, let me know your preference and numbers and I'll make a reservation.
