Navigation Practice TWO - 19 March 2011
The event, which was postponed due to bad weather earlier in the year.
The plan is to do simple circuit to practice map and compass work, finishing off with a relaxing pint at the Black Bull at Frosterley.
All abilities welcome.
You will require normal gear for a hill walk, including a compass. I will provide maps for the area.
Meet at Bollihope Quarry parking area, Grid 006340, just South of Frosterley. At 0930.
Take the A689 to Frosterley, go through the village, just before you leave the village there is a turn on the left, Pass the station, and the Black Bull pub, over the bridge up the hill to Hill End, pass through Hill End then after about 1Km the road descends into the valley of Bollihope Burn. There is a parking area just before the bridge.
Post up if you wish to come, so that I can ensure we have enough maps.

I'm planning to come too - hope not to get lost before we get to the pub, it's one of my favourites!

So far, the following are coming:
Duncan, Nadine, Celeste, Liz, Sue and myself.
Anyone else interested?
We should try and sort out lifts to avoid taking too many cars, as I am the furthest East, I could pick up most/all of the current list.

Re: Navigation Practice TWO - 19 March 2011
Sue and I had a chat about transport arrangements, at the climbing wall this evening. We will need at least two cars, for the current list.
Outline plan would be one car from Durham (volunteer?), and I would pick up Celeste, and could come through Durham if needed.
Celeste can you PM me an address or a location where I can pick you up.
Liz, we not sure of your where abouts in Durham, could you PM me you location.
We can adjust if anyone else wants to come, and finalise arrangements and timings, here in the next couple of days

Hi All,
I'll be coming through from south of Durham, I'd be happy to drive. I can come through Durham to pick people up. I'll pm Mike as suggested.

Just wondering if it's worth meeting up somewhere like the Duke of Wellington car park, to save anyone from having to drive round picking people up? There's lots of on-street parking round there if people didn't want to leave cars at the pub. I'm quite happy to drive if we need another car - looking forward to the day!

OK, lets go with that, meet at the Duke of Wellington at 0845, (so we can get to destination for 0930).
I have nt heard from Liz, but she should now have my mobile number.

That must have been the Miss A Currick group I saw in the wrong place then. It was a good day, thanks to everyone.
It was the first time I have seen a compass with reversed polarity, anyone in the club had any practical experience of flicking the polarity back? I know the theory but have never tried it.
