Sat 12th March
I've offered the March day activity and am thinking of booking a pony trek!! Is there likely to be interest if I investigate stables near pubs that will give a gentle walk out on some nice gentle ponies? I know stables at Fishburn will take a totally novice group out for an hour or so and another at Hamsterley. Is it worth looking into details?

Re: Sat 12th March - pony trekking
Okay - some details..
The stables are Millhouse riding centre and it has it's own website if anyone can work out how to put a link on. The cost is £15 for the hour - group size max of 6, but several groups can be formed. It is based at Fishburn and all treks are off road around local fields. They are happy to take total novices who have never been on a horse, and will teach you some basics like start, stop and turn in a small arena first. They have horses of all sizes so big ones and small ones - there is a horse for you all.
Now the important bit - the Dunn Cow in nearby Sedgefield has real ale and excellent pub grub, so the plan would be a late morning ride followed by a rather civilised lunch!
I need to book this before the end of Feb, especially if there are lots of us so they can sort the horses. Lets see how many definites there are by the 18th Feb. Please post below.

Re: Sat 12th March
Provisionally booked for a session in the arena to learn how to stop, start and turn - followed by short trek. Booked for 11am so can go for pub lunch after at the Dun Cow in Sedgefield.
So far me, Lois, Jenny, Jack and Keith ( the horses are gentle I've been told and you should try everything at least once!)
Others can still join us - will see everyone at pub night on 1st March.

Re: Sat 12th March
Booked!!!
Me, Lois, Jenny H, Keith, Mandy, Janet, Joanne, Jenny W, Jack
Sarah who runs the stable will take us as a group of 9 but no more unless there is enough interest for a full 2nd group.
Wear comfortable trousers and wellies or boots with a small heel. Bash hats will be provided. Meet at the stables (details earlier in the thread) to register at 10.45am. There will be a start, stop, turn training session in the arena followed by an off road short hack. The session will be geared for total novices with nice calm horses.
Pub lunch after at the Dunn Cow in Sedgefield where I am reliably informed Tony Blair took George Bush!
Relax and enjoy a new experience! See you all there apart from Lois who has kindly volunteered to chaffeur those local to her house.
