Sunday 1st August BBQ and orienteering @ hamsterley

Hi Everyone just thought i would put out a message to tell you that DMS are having a BBQ and orienteering event at Hamsterley forest. The aim is for everyone to get together and have some fun and also to bring along their families. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather. Please bring what ever you want to cook and a portable BBQ. If you don't want to do orienteering there are plenty of cycle routes and general walks around the place. It would be good to know numbers so please put your hands up and tell me if you want to attend.

I will be there. I propably wont bring a bike, but I can bring a couple of spare compasses.

Naturally I'll be along also. Just completed a recce, there are two orienteering courses at Hamsterley. One is designed for walkers, the second is for bikers, fell runners can either (or both!)

A colour walkers orienteering map is on sale from the shop for the pricey fee of £1.25. Bikers have to make do with a black and white version for a bargain cost of 50p. Shop not open till 11am so suggest we meet at 11-11:30am?

We meet at windy bank car park which is next to the children's adventure play park. This car park is quieter than the main car park and has picnic tables.

Can anyone give Elena, a lift from Durham. (Gilesgate area I think).

She is having problems posting on to the forum, herself. If anyone can help post or contact me and I will relay message.
