Mountain bike shops

Post by Claire Mc »

I'm keen to buy a mountain bike, but am new to the area. Could anyone recommend any good mountain bike shops in the Durham area.
Hope to see you out on the trails soon.

Hi Claire

For the serious MTB shops I try these (this is my order of preference):

Bike Scene Old Ambulance Station, Park Lane, Guisborough, Cleveland, TS14 6NT Tel: 01287 610735 http://www.bikescene.co.uk

EDINBURGH BICYCLE CO-OPERATIVE 5-7, Union Rd, Byker, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, NE6 1EH Tel: 0191 265 8619 (can be very busy at weekends) http://www.edinburghbicycle.com

Chain Reaction Cycles http://www.ChainReactionCycles.com - Probably the cheapest online bike shop. Free postage too!

Cestria Cycles 11, Ashfield Terrace, Chester Le Street, County Durham, DH3 3PD Tel: 0191 3887535

Specialist Cycles Within Meadowfield District Social Club Frederick Street South, Meadowfield, Durham, DH7 8NA
Tel: 0191 378 3753 http://www.specialistcycles.co.uk/

I can recommend Bikesport in the centre of Darlington - got my current bike from there. If you are ever in the Lake District try the shop at Grizedale Forest visitor centre - you can test the bike round the forest before buying...
