Doug Scott Evening Mon 21 Nov

Post by carl-b »

Here is something of climbing and general interest.

Doug Scott is presenting his Three Peaks lecture, focusing on his climbs of the 3 highest mountain peaks, Everest, K2 & Kangchenjunga.

Many will recognise Doug Scotts' input to high altitude mountaineering and global exploration. If you have not heard of this guy he was a major player during the 70's/ 80's and beyond in an elite group of mountaineers and is considered one of the pioneers of modern Alpine style assaults (without bottled oxygen) in the Greater Ranges.

Date/ Venue: Mon 21 Nov / Egglescliffe School, Urlay Nook Road (Near Yarm)
Cost: £10
Tickets: Egglescliffe School 01642 352 587

Proceeds to the school and Community Action Nepal.

Doug Scotts' mountaineering achievements are outstanding and the tales and photographs are likely to be awesome.

I shall be leaving west Durham about 6pm (total 5 seats) and collection from Pot&Glass/Lodge and Duke Wellington is preferred. I expect we can later arrange to sample a local pub.

Please post reply if you intend to join me.

Hi Carl

I'd be interested in this.

Can I have a lift from your house?

Do you know if we can get tickets on night?

Thanks

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Ticket arrangements seem straightforward. I called the school on the listed number and put my name down with a commitment to pay on the night .
You can send the school a chq in advance also.
Transport from mine is no probIem on the 21st. I expect you will be in Sundlnd tue night, will give you directions to my place then.
So that leaves 3 seats in my motor.

Would love to go and meet you at the pot and glass. Heard Doug Scott speak about 22 years ago, really good. Also bumped into him climbing on Hellvelyn last winter!

Really sorry to stand you all up. Computer down, late finish and no phone numbers. So sorry, hope you had a good evening.
