DMS plan to have a family day at the beach on Sunday 19th June 2011 (this is fathers day).
Venue - Low Newton By the Sea beach in Northumberland. Great beach and is also next to the Ship Inn (has it's own micro brewery).
Dogs are allowed on the beach and you don't need to keep them on the leads.
Plenty of options to swim, walk, cycle, and surf and have a BBQ. Not just for families

Re: Family Beach Day Sun 19 Jun
Hi all
I aim to get to Low Newton for about 11.00 on Sunday morning.
There is a car park at Low Newton (£2.50 to park all day) or you can park on the grass verge near the tin church.
There are 2 other roads from Embleton to the beach, but the parking is really limited there.
I will see if I can get the club banner from Phil and we'll set up a base at the Low Newton end of the beach.
The walk to Dunstanburgh Castle is really good - It is owned by the National Trust and English Heritage - so if you're a member bring your card along. Dogs are welcome in the castle grounds.
Refreshments are available at the Ship Inn at Low Newton and at the Embleton Golf Course Club House (this is half way between Low Newton and the Castle).
I'm going to bring a bbq and will probably have a pint of their own beer at the Ship Inn later in the day.
Please let me know who else is coming.
Thanks
Wendy

Re: Family Beach Day Sun 19 Jun
Is anyone up for going out on road bikes on the Sunday morning before the BBQ? I'm planning on taking up my wee camper van and parking up for the Saturday night, then hopefully persuading one/some of you to cycle with me Sunday morning?

What about meeting at 9am in the low Newton carpark? It looks like only you and me for it. Annie did say she was interested, but I can't contact her. I'll have a look at routes tonight.

See you tomorrow Steve. I'm leaving now in the van. Just in case there's questions my mobile number is 07748 697638. Looking at the map - Holy island is only 20 miles away!?

It was a good day on the beach and the weather held out until 3.00pm, when we retired to the Ship Inn for a pint of real ale.
Ann-Marie, James, Daniel and Chloe had fun in the sand building and destroying sculptures.
Steve, Janice, Sam and Annie did a road ride to Holy Island and back.
Penny( + Sam and Jack), Jo, Keith and myself walked to the Castle and back.
Phil, Carl and Lynda stayed at base camp "supervising" the kids plus young Sam.
Great day, we'll make a this a fixture for next year.
