Sounds good, think we'd struggle a bit to park in Durham this near to Christmas. Are we taking lunch or are you thinking of somewhere with a pub en route? Might be nice to get indoors somewhere.

Final plan is to meet in the wee car park by the Pump House in Shincliffe at 10am and walk into Durham along the river - not quite mountaineering, but there's a lot to be said for a warm pub either end of the walk!
