My name is Tasha. I am a PhD student at the Uni - I have actually been around here for nearly 6 years, and am getting to that point I want to get out of the Durham student bubble
I am part of a good crew of mountain bikers from around the North East and we do some top rides, but it would be cool to meet a few new people and get out and do some of the other sports I enjoy, and also, at times go riding round Durham. My main thing is mountain biking at the moment (Durham, Pennines, Cheviots, Lakes, Scotland, NYM - you get the idea). I also climb (well I indoor climb - never got into the outdoor thing, though I have enjoyed it the couple of times I've been - just climbing has always been my cold dark winter night thing), walk (the sport I was bought up on), scramble, power kite, backpack and I would really love to get back in a canoe/kayak (its been a while!).
I think that with the number of rides our lot go out on I wouldnt be the most active member of the club as I love riding with those guys (and my boyfriend is part of the crew), but if there is some local stuff on, I would love to get involved.
Some pictures of me getting up to outdoory stuff recently:
Kielder, a couple of weekends ago:

Backpacking in Denali, Alaska this August:

Carrying up Nan Bield Pass, Lake District this summer (Did kind of have a massive over the handlebars later though, resulting in not completing the ride - ops! The coffee and cake was good though while I waited for the others!):

If anyone fancies a local ride for a couple of hours tomorrow, let me know. I dont really know any good routes round Durham, so if anyone has any ideas, that would be cool.
Cheers
Tasha
