As weather is looking OK for Saturday, I intend to cycle up to Roker for the Airshow. Basically a long bike ride with an airshow to provide an excuse for a rest.
I will be going up the National Cycle route 1 from Castle Eden. If anyone wants to join me on route, we can meet at Hetton Lyons Country Park Car park (grid ref NZ 360478)
From Durham you would follow Route 14 out to Sherburn then Route 20 (W2W). See Sustrans website if you dont have a cycle map. Apart from short sections on country roads, the route is off roads on good cycle tracks and old railway lines. Durham to Hetton is about 9 miles and Hetton to Roker is 10 or 12 depending on choice of route.
Anyone who does not fancy cycling all the way you could park at Hetton Lyons Country Park.
The flying programme starts early this year at 1200.
