Weardale SKi Club. Membership

Post by phil »

Its that time of year to join the local ski club. Weardale Ski Club is limited to 750 people, membership closes once the limit is reached so now is the time to join if we want to ski in Durham this winter.

For those who have not heard the Durham own ski resort, the ski centre is easily accessible (bring your own snow chains), there are two ski lifts (actually drag lifts but that does not sound as good) and runs are graded from green to black just like in the Alpes. A piste basher is used to keep the runs in tip top condition. When is it open you ask....everyday in winter (ok its only open when there is a covering of snow, last year there was skiing on 45days!)

Ok seriously, the runs are not going to be as long as the Alps or in Scotland, you must bring your own skies, boots, ski boards, food, beverages etc. conditions can be interesting when its windy or with low cloud, but there something amazing about being able to ski so close to home and when conditions are good it's can be like being you favourite Alpine resort!
