Proper 3 Peaks

Post by Badger »

Good people,

Further to my announcement on Tuesday, I plan to organize the (proper) 3 peaks (Ben Nevis, Sca Fell Pike and Snowdon).

The weekend this will happen is now confirmed as the weekend of Sat 13th August. We will need to take Friday off work. This is later than planned, but works better for me and we have more time to get into shape!

We will need to hire a people carrier or mini-bus depending on numbers - provisional costs for this will be estimated at £40 to £60 per person (+ fuel) who is walking. I suggest as the drivers are giving up their valuable time to support us and therefore do not pay. I have 1 definate driver lined up and perhaps 1 more who will do a couple of the hills and share the driving, but not the whole lot (jo ;-) ). I would plan on budgeting about £100 in total for the travelling and accomodation costs.

I will look into accommodation once numbers are confirmed, suggest a night in Fort William and/or a night in North Wales to recuperate - I will look for hostels / campsites so its cheap - does anyone know of any around those areas? I have not looked at them before.

Please let me know by the end of next week if you are in so I can arrange things.

Cheers,

Mark (Badger)
Thanks

Hi Mark,
Good luck with the hills, sorry can not join u. I can recommend Petes Eat in Llanberis/(snowdon) for bunkhouse and grub, definetly worth checking out, its a dedicated climber/walker bunkhouse/cafe/ library/ climbers kitchen, if you are hungry the monster omlette will refuel u. In fact its the heart of Llanberis, even for the locals. Another alternative is the Heights hotel/ bunkhouse in Llanberis, has big rooms and bar which residents can use after public serving hours, even got a bit of a climbing wall.(Been a while since I used it though?).
cheers
