Hello

I'm interested in walking and would love to join the club. However, I'm not sure how fit I am at the moment so I'm particularly interested in starting with day walks. Just wondering if you have a programme I can see and where you are going in August.

Many thanks, Jo

Hi Jo
There is no need to worry about fitness too much, we have all levels of fitness and abilities in the club.
Why not come along to the BBQ/Orienteering event on the 1st Aug - See under SOCIAL EVENTS on the forum

Hi

Could anyone explain to me where I go and what time etc? I don't know Hamsterley Forest all that well but it seems like a nice thing to do.

Many thanks, Jo

Jo : see below some extracts for directions under SOCIAL EVENTS:

"We meet at windy bank car park which is next to the children's adventure play park, at 11am. This car park is quieter than the main car park and has picnic tables.
. Please bring BBQ's and what you would like to eat and drink. The aim of this is to have a fun day out and familes are welcome. Some people are bringing bikes so there is the option of cycle orienteering or just a ride as there is a new trail opened which i fancy trying out. Let me know if you are coming so I know numbers and who to look out for. We will be taking the camper van so look out for a VW transporter".

Phil and Sam's VW camper van should make an obvious landmark, the car park in question is a bit further up the road, past the main car park and Cafe

Hi

Thank you very much for the information. Yes, I'll be coming along. I may bring my bike- it's a hybrid. How difficult is the track and how many miles? I have just started cycling again after a long break and am building up (slowly!).

Cheers, Jo

I think a hybrid would be fine on those tracks, though I am not an expert. there are a few people who do not normally cycle who are taking bikes, so you wont be alone. There is also a walking route
