EASTER PADDLE Sun 11 Apr
1300 - 1700
Hi Mike,
While we'll be away over the Easter weekend, we'll be back the following one, so I could offer a canoe and kayak fun afternoon on Sunday 11th April, 1-5pm in Durham. This will include instruction for those who need it and a trip upstream towards Shincliffe (bring a flask and snack for the compulsory tea stop!) and an easier trip back down afterwards.
I'd need to have an idea of numbers well before the event to ensure that i've got enough equipment, so if you'd like to come along, please let me know in good time. I'll be away from Friday 2nd April so will put a closing date of 1st April to sign up for this event.
Let me know how tall you are, if you are right or left handed, and if you have some experience and any of your own equipment. Also indicate if your first preference is canoe or kayak, and i'll see what i can do!
Meet at 1pm, at the riverbank downstream of Prebends bridge (just above the diagonal weir and the pink house). Parking is free on Sunday's, so you'll need to find a space nearby and walk down to the riverbank.
You will need to wear warm base layers, a fleece top, trackie bottom type things and waterproof outer layers, or a wetsuit and windproof top, as well as shoes that can get wet (old trainers are ok). A warm hat and pair of gloves with grip might be handy too if it is cold. (stretch gloves covered with a pair of marigolds are standard beginner fashion on the river!) You will also need a change of clothes and shoes and towel for afterwards.
This event will run even if it is cold and/or raining (ideal canoe weather, as it is still fun in conditions where other outdoor stuff becomes miserable!).
Go on, you know you want to....
