Thanks everyone for a great day out on Sunday. We had 7 DMS people on the water, another two providing bank support, one soup chef and several spectators! Just as well we were there in force, as the Uni club didn't turn up at all, and the Water Board boat engine failed to start!
I've tried to get a 'plug' for the Kayak Club and ourselves in the Advertiser this week, as they had photographers there for the afternoon.
At least it didn't sleet or freeze, and everyone was smiling!

Thanks to you Linz for a good excuse to get the open on the river and proving it can hold somewhere in the region of 7000 yellow plastic ducks plus crew! A fact I'm sure will come in handy for pub quizzes and the like!
Thanks also for the delicious soup, to Jenny as copilot and everyone else there for a great day's play.

I don't think my attempt to get DMS a 'plug' in the papers worked, but at least this year they mentioned the Kayak Club, and we got our pictures into Monday's Journal.
Go to
http://www.journallife.co.uk to see the pictures, with the headline on page 3 saying 'Kayakers help get stuck ducks paddling'. I've always wanted to be a page 3 girl...

I've just discovered you can buy copies of the photos - made into mugs, t-shirts, key rings and the like, by visiting
http://www.icNewcastle.co.uk/buyaphoto
There's a fab one of Laura and Dave in the open canoe, surrounded by a sea of ducks, and most of us appear in the other photos somewhere...

Thanks Penny! Any excuse to get people into boats and onto the water...
