Hi! I just came across your wonderful club page! My fiancé and I are newer to County Durham and are looking forward to getting involved with other people who love the outdoors, my fiancé especially! He comes from the Pacific NorthWest of the USA, and was shocked to learn there was climbing in England! He absolutely loves to rock climb and has been looking for a group to join up with since it terrifies me! Is it possible to join up rock climbing with the group before the next meeting? We would be happy to join and pay membership fees whenever required! Please let me know and I look forward to meeting everyone!

Re: Hi!
Hi Alicia,
welcome to DMS. People get involved in lots of activities including walking, kayaking, mountainbiking as well as climbing. There's a regular Tuesday evening meet for climbing which rotates around the three regional climbing walls; Newcastle Climbing Centre in Heaton, Newton Aycliffe climbing wall and Sunderland climbing Wall. Next Tuesday (March 8th) the climbing group will be at the Sunderland Wall (check www.sunderlandwall.co.uk for info and location).
Members usually turn up from around 07:30 pm. You should be able to read the comments posted under the climbing section to see who's going that night. I wont be there unfortunately but theres others who should be going. I'll ask the regulars to make sure something is posted for March 8th.
When the evenings get a bit lighter (After April 26th) we switch to outdoor venues on Tuesdays plus we tend to start arranging day trips out on the weekend.
regards,
Chris.
