Dear Theatregoer,
Don’t miss the oportunity to hear Simon Yates’ gripping account of his life as an exploratory mountaineer at The Lamplight Arts Centre, Stanley on Friday the 6th March, 8.00pm.
Forever known as ‘the man who cut Joe Simpson’s rope’ Simon Yates’ career as one of the UK’s best climbers has had it’s fair share of ups and downs, and his one man show, ‘Beyond the Void’, takes the audience on a roller coaster ride through his many adventures.
After the harrowing events of his and Joe Simpson’s first ascent of the West Face of Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in 1985, during which Simon was forced to take the decision to cut Joe’s rope (recounted in the bestselling book and BAFTA award-winning film ‘Touching the Void’), Simon carried on to climb in some of the most remote and rarely explored mountain ranges of the world.
Simon brings a refreshing modesty and dry humour to mountain speaking, underplaying his remarkable achievements.
