I am heading to Swaledale festival to hear some Jazz by a trio called Acoustic Triangle on Saturday, at 8pm. The venue is Grinton church - just before Reeth, about 10 miles up the dale from Richmond. It would be great to combine with either a walk in the dales or attendance at some of the other festival events - http://www.swaledale-festival.org.uk
I have heard Acoustic Triangle twice before and they are fantastic - it is - obviously - acoustic music - but the special thing is that they perform in small churches with interesting acoustics which make the most of their music - their concert in Stockton church 2 years ago was fantastic.
here is what the website says:
Double bassist Malcolm Creese, Tim Garland on bass clarinet and saxophones, and pianist Gwilym Simcock are touring the UK in a major celebration of real acoustic music in beautiful sacred buildings.
These virtuoso musicians present a unique blend of melodic jazz, classical and folk styles, with compositions especially written by Tim Garland and Gwilym Simcock, improvisations and arrangements of pieces by Maurice Ravel, Kenny Wheeler, Bill Evans and Cole Porter.
Fascinating music that will surprise and delight! ‘Exquisitely passionate and inspired’ (BBC Music Magazine)
Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children -
Hope you can join me
