Mountain Biking - Hamsterley Forest Sunday 13th May

Post by maurice »

Hi Folks,

Paul, Debbie & I are planning on doing a spot of biking at Hamsterley Forest this Sunday.

Plan is to get there for about 11, do a route (or two!) then go to the cafe after.

Not sure which route we're going to do yet, will wait and see who turns up and go with the majority decision, or if enough people turn up we could split into groups and meet at the cafe afterwards.

Hope to see some of you there!

P.S. If you'd like to come but don't have a bike you can hire a bike (and helmet) from the local bike hire place (Wood 'n' Wheels). I think, of the top of my head, prices are approx £10 for 2 hours & £20 all day (but don't quote me on it!)

Hi Maurice Simon (who turned up on Tuesday for the 1st time) rang me and says that he wants to go so I'll pass on your contact details to him and get him to ring you. What shiney new bike did you get?

I don't think I can come as I have some friends up visiting from down south.

Mountain biking

Maurice,

In response to your message about biking on Tuesday nights - although all the climbing venues are probably fine for biking, there probably isn't a need to go that far afield as the likes of Hamsterley have enough routes to keep us entertained. Not being a slack climber on flexi time  I also can't get home before six so am limited to places half an hour from Durham.

I would be keen to cycle, say, every second Tuesday - how does that sound. I've a good route worked out in the Deerness Valley (west of Durham) and there is also Hamsters and Chopwell, so that's 3 venues.

How about Tuesday? Anyone interested in a ride up Deerness Valley? Say 1 or 2 hours...

Pete,

That's sounds grand. Where is Deerness Valley though?? Not to worry, I'll google it and providing it's not a million miles from Darlo I'll see you there on Tuesday at about 7ish.
